Back to homeI'm quite bored so I'm gonna make a blog post (✨wow✨).
I officially stopped learning Globasa a few months ago and have slowly been learning Toki Pona since. Originally, I was learning Esperanto because I felt like an international language was a cool idea. And I mean, it is: Free of colonialism, ugly history, borders, and barriers Esperanto will propel the human race into a new anarchist age. Right?
Wait no, hang on. Esperanto is stupidly Eurocentric and white and is in no way going to become any sort of international language. False alarm guys.
And then I found globasa. A newly created international language, roots words from all the worlds languages, easier grammar, the true global lingua franca. Only problem is there's like 5 speakers and they're all in this one discord.
So of course I spent 8 months very slowly learning the language and hanging out (lurking with occasional talking) in the discord. There's some really cool people there and it was great fun. However, about a month I became a bit disillusioned with the idea of an international language in this form at all. I really could see globasa becoming a global lingua franca in the right world but it's not going to happen here. In addition, for all that Globasa is truly global, over half the words still come from English. This make sense based off how many people speak English but for me, it still gives them Brits a win for all their colonialsm. I didn't become uncomfortable with Globasa, I became uncomfortable with the idea of IALs built upon words from other languages. The lack of reading material was also an issue.
I truly might pick Globasa back up in the future, but for now I figure an international languages built upon vocabulary from around the world is kind of a flawed idea.
However, I've had my eyes on Toki Pona for a while now. The easiest language to learn, a vibrant community, and those dope ass hyroglyphs are all pretty sick. So, I've been learning that for a little while now. Also, while I know it's not the goal of the language, it really does feel like a better canidate for an international language than anything else.
yeah so that was my barely sensible poorly written rant about constructed languages... now onto some other stuff
Peer to Peer networks are cool and I'm gonna put my site on one. I'm not entirely sure where yet but It's gonna be fun. IPFS igreat concept but it's not really designed for websites, the crypto stuff is weird, and it's complicated for people to access without installing other software. The new freenet should be done soon too and that seems great, except I wish it had the part of IPFS that allows you to see each version, keeping things on the internet forever.
I finally got... ✨✨covid✨✨ after four years. Good riddance I say, but it also kinda sucks. I'm barely sick but testing positive. so that's cool.
anyways that was my boredom rant, if you read this you should send me an email to tell me you did. i'm curious if people ever come here.
